Surgical FAQ | Answers for New Patients
Q.1. Do I need a referral to schedule a consultation with Dr. Savoy?
You can be referred by your primary care physician or a hospital, but you are also welcome to contact our office directly. Many of our patients find us through personal recommendations or social media. We are happy to review your case and determine the best path forward for your health.
Q.2. Where will my surgery take place?
Most major procedures are performed at Oakdale Community Hospital, where Dr. Savoy has served as Chief of Surgery for many years. Minor diagnostic procedures or specialized treatments may be conducted right here in our office on Hospital Drive.
How long is the recovery time for laparoscopic surgery?
Because laparoscopic techniques use “keyholes” rather than large incisions, your recovery is typically much faster. Most patients find they can return to their normal daily activities and work within days rather than weeks, with significantly less post-operative pain.
Q.4. What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance providers, as well as Medicare. Because every plan is different, we recommend calling our office with your insurance information ready so we can verify your coverage before your first visit.
Q.5. How do I obtain my medical records or surgical notes?
You can request your records by calling our office directly. We maintain a secure database of all patient communications and records to ensure your information is protected and available whenever you or your other healthcare providers need it.
Q.6. What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you provide at least 24-hour notice if you need to reschedule your appointment or surgery. This allows us to offer that time to another neighbor in need of care.
