Advanced Surgical Care | Oakdale, LA

Twenty-Eight Years of Board-Certified Precision and Compassionate Care

When you are facing a surgical procedure, the most important factor is the experience of the hands performing it. You shouldn’t have to navigate the stress of traveling to New Orleans or Houston to find a board-certified surgeon with elite, high-level training.

Dr. Patrick Savoy has spent nearly three decades mastering the craft of surgery, bringing a level of expertise to Oakdale that is usually reserved for major metropolitan centers. Whether you need a routine fix or a complex vascular intervention, your care is provided with the personal touch of a neighbor.

Your surgical foundation is backed by grit forged at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, an institution known for building surgeons who can handle the most complex cases with total focus. We combine that old-school work ethic with the latest minimally invasive technology to ensure you get the best possible outcome with the least amount of downtime. We don’t just treat your condition; we treat you as a whole person, ensuring you are fully supported from your first consultation through your final day of recovery.

Protecting Your Brain and Body Through Advanced Technology

Vascular Precision and Stroke Prevention

If you are worried about a stroke or struggle with cold, painful feet, your circulation might be the issue. Clogged arteries are a silent threat that can lead to life-altering crises if left unaddressed. We focus on keeping these pipes clear and functional. You have access to the best tools available to monitor your circulation and intervene before a blockage causes permanent damage.

A primary focus for your vascular health is TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization). This is a specialized, minimally invasive way to treat carotid artery disease and is the safest method currently available to prevent a stroke. During the procedure, your blood flow is temporarily reversed to ensure no plaque reaches the brain while a stent is placed. We also prioritize amputation prevention for those with poor circulation, using radiofrequency ablation and intravenous ultrasound to fix failing veins and save your limbs.

Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery

“Keyhole” Techniques Designed for Your Faster Recovery

Traditional surgery used to mean large incisions and weeks of difficult recovery, but today you can benefit from laparoscopic techniques for most procedures. By using small cameras and specialized tools, we can perform complex procedures through tiny openings.

You can receive laparoscopic gallbladder removals, appendectomies, and Nissen Fundoplications. This approach means you experience significantly less pain, smaller scars, and a much faster return to your work and your family. Whether you are facing a hernia repair or a complex colo-rectal procedure, we focus on a repair that is strong, durable, and gets you back on your feet sooner than you expected.

Surgical FAQ | Answers for New Patients

You can be referred by your primary care physician or a hospital, but you are also welcome to contact our office directly. Many of our patients find us through personal recommendations or social media. We are happy to review your case and determine the best path forward for your health.

Most major procedures are performed at Oakdale Community Hospital, where Dr. Savoy has served as Chief of Surgery for many years. Minor diagnostic procedures or specialized treatments may be conducted right here in our office on Hospital Drive.

Because laparoscopic techniques use “keyholes” rather than large incisions, your recovery is typically much faster. Most patients find they can return to their normal daily activities and work within days rather than weeks, with significantly less post-operative pain.

We accept most major insurance providers, as well as Medicare. Because every plan is different, we recommend calling our office with your insurance information ready so we can verify your coverage before your first visit.

You can request your records by calling our office directly. We maintain a secure database of all patient communications and records to ensure your information is protected and available whenever you or your other healthcare providers need it.

We ask that you provide at least 24-hour notice if you need to reschedule your appointment or surgery. This allows us to offer that time to another neighbor in need of care.
